My Tioman trip…

26 May 2008 · 2 Comments

It has been one week since I came back from my Tioman trip, but haven got the time to share with you all. We set off on a sat morning and the 3 of us were forever stuck in some jam and Qs and forever delayed by whatever transport. As a result, the journey which supposedly should take less than 6 hours, took a wholesome 9hrs!

Nevertheless, we were able to capture some beautiful view from our coach, which we might have missed out in our daily hectic life, like sunlight which squeeze through the bus, the “peopleless” woodlands causeway etc.

When we finally reach the resort, it was still bright and sunny. The beach looks clean and nice and the water looks clear. There are a lot of coconut trees on the island and on it are handwritten signs “Beware of falling coconuts”. Our 1st day on the island, we din do much. Cos the water bank is quite rocky and we cant swim in it; we can only squat and play water like kids ~

After the water playing session, the 3 of us went up. Tallie wanted to tan herself, so she kept smudging suntan lotion on herself; I want to prevent spots on my face, so I kept applying sunblock lotion on myself; last but not least, JNC wanted to keep herself free from any lotion, so she din do anything except lying down there and write her secret Dairy.

Too bad, some cats came along (according to JNC, they actually stared at us from afar, waiting for the right moment to pounce on us), JNC got really scared and we quickly left the place and grab some food.

At night, 3 of us went back to our room after dinner.  JNC wanted to sleep early as she has had a tiring day. So Tallie and me played some poker and drink as penalty. Sometime right in the middle of our game, an uninvited guest came along…It was a cockroach!

Tallie and I were terrified. She was the one who actually caught glimpse of it, but she just couldn’t move any parts of her body except mouth ”Quick quick, it’s moving towards us! kill it before it gets to our beds!”. I was scared too, but I can imagine the implications if that thing really managed to seek a refuge under our bed and god knows when it will come out and lick our faces when we were asleep!?

Thus, I bravely (and I really felt that I’m so brave for someone who is so jerky even at shadows of cockroaches) grabbed something and smacked the cockroach (using Tallie’s slipper and she was blaming me for it when she was still immobilised on the bed).

One smack and it stopped moving. 5 seconds later, it moved again and I quickly do another smack (heart thumping like crazy as if just committed murder). It finally stopped moving and I exhaustedly stand up. I asked tallie to sweep it away, as I have used up all my courage to do the 1st part and am unable to do the 2nd part anymore. But Tallie refused to do anything (trust u to be my friend, chey!).

At this time, the cat-phobic who happens to be my saviour at this time, JNC started to stir. She has woken up to our screaming and smacking sound. Knowing our fear, she kindly offered to help us get rid of the body. As she was standing in front of the body and me 2 steps away from her, the thing jumped! I screamed and jumped at the same time (maybe at the same rythem as that thing)! Cant remember what happened after that, whether the thing died again or JNC kill it again. But at the end JNC calmly disposed off the thing and our room became normal again (a big thank you to you and rest assured that I will fence off any cats that came into our sights).

From this incident, I learnt a very, very, very important lesson. That is, try to include a variety of friends in your travelling group. For example, cockcoach phobic travellers should always get at least one non-cockcoach phobic traveller along. At least, it won’t ended up that all the travellers screaming away at the sight of the cockroach not bigger than one’s thumb instead of enjoying the relaxed stay. Hehe and everything will be bright and beautiful!

And Tallie, if you are reading this post, remember to reflect on urself! Shame on u for being so timid!~
